This pine tree is very tall and straight. The leaves are long, straight green needles. The bark is very tough and pierced by six inch thorns in a regular pattern along its entire trunk length.
The wood of the iron wood tree is exceptionally strong. It is excellent for bows, shields and ships. However, in order to obtain this marvelous strength, the wood must be slowly and painstakingly dried in the light of the sun over a long period of time. The slower the drying process, the stronger the end product. Only skilled herbalists and craftsmen can perform this procedure correctly.
The greatly prized iron wood tree is found in the forests of the cold, northern mountains. It is found chiefly in the Dragonclaw Mountains and the Northern Tusks.
