The World Of Khoras - Fauna and Flora

Section 4 - Fauna and Flora

This we know. All things are connected like the blood which unites one family... Man did not weave the web of life; he is merely a strand in it. Whatever he does to the web, he does to himself.

Khoras is a world abundant in life. The amazing diversity of countless species fills thousands of ecological niches. From highest mountain top to the deep crevasse of the sea, life is everywhere. Many factors have contributed to the vast array of life. The radiation that pours out of Drellis has had a profound effect on the biodiversity of the planet, forcing accelerated evolution and branching in many species and continues to this day.

Besides the common animals of the world, Khoras is also filled with a vast array of unusual and dangerous monsters. Some evolved naturally, others were crafted by magic during the Great War... living weapons unleashed upon the battlefield. Most of these creatures are found only in the most remote wilderness places - dark forests, dank swamps or windswept mountain tops – far from civilized places. Stories abound of monster slaying champions and valiant battles against ghastly beasts. The vast majority of common folk, however, have never laid eyes on a real monster. The closest most come are stone carved gargoyles or fanciful depictions on maps or scrolls. Likewise, much lore about monsters is vague, unreliable and exaggerated.

Finally, there exist some terrors that entered this world from other dimensions. Wizards summon demons through magical portals, necromancers infuse the dead with false life and otherworldly monstrosites slip through the cracks between worlds.

This section is divided up into two main categories: Fauna and Flora, each organized by biome. In addition, this section includes a special page on diseases and a page dedicated to that most magnificent of animals... the dragon.
