Physical Description

Sand trolls are large, ugly humanoid brutes with thick tan hides and bony plates. Their bestial head of the creature is crowned by a single horn that juts forth from the creatures forehead. Only the males have this horn. A typical male stands 2.5 meters tall and weighs more than 300 kilograms. Females are somewhat smaller than males.

Sand troll males will charge an opponent and attempt to impale them upon their horn. They also have iron hard claws that can deal terrible wounds. They rely on their immense strength to rip opponents apart. Their thick hide and high pain threshold makes them exceptionally durable. They are highly resistant to heat and flame, but susceptible to lightning and cold.

Geographic Distribution and Habitat

Sand trolls are solitary creatures except when mating. A typical lair will contain one male, two to four females and possibly a few young, depending on the time of the season. Sand trolls live in the desert and wastelands. They typically inhabit shallow caves or the shelter beneath rocky overhangs. They are quite common in the arid regions of Qeshir, especially in the outskirts of the Padashan Empire and the Great Ahtabi Desert.

Sand trolls eat anything they kill and they will attack virtually anything without fear. They supplement their diet of meat with the occasional desert shrub or cactus. The flesh of a sand troll is edible, though tough and foul tasting. The horn of a sand troll is prized by hunters. The horn is considered a good luck charm for the one who slew it.
