Physical Description

The terrifying scythe lizard appears as an huge reptilian creature which walks on its hind legs. It is easily recognized by its huge scythe-like claws which extend from the forearms. The scythe lizard stands 2.5 meters tall (8 feet) and weighs a 140 kilograms (300 pounds). The creature has broad flat feet with widely spaced toes that allow it to distribute its weight and walk or run over soft, marshy ground.

Combat

The scythe lizard is a territorial predator that hunts alone. It uses stealth and speed to make a kill. One strike from its massive curved claws is enough to disembowel a human. The scythe lizard only needs to hit its prey once. The claws of this creature are coated with a biological toxin. The toxin causes the affected flesh to go numb. If left untreated, it quickly spreads and paralyzes the prey. Once wounded, the scythe lizard will pursue and track the wounded creature until it finally succumbs to the toxin.

Geographic Distribution and Habitat

Scythe lizards are found in wetlands and marshes of Aggradar and eastern Qeshir. Specifically, these beasts are native to the Kalanos Marshes, the rainforests of Mael ix Drablin, the Sitharek Rainforest and the Salt Marshes of eastern Qeshir.

Ecology

Scythe lizards mate once every three years. The female lays a clutch of 8 to 12 eggs. The eggs are abandoned by both parents and the hatchlings are left to fend for themselves.

It is widely known that the Sorcerer-King Lothiramar uses scythe lizards as roaming killers in the Kalanos Marshes. Some scythe lizards in the Kalanos Marshes have been seen with great iron collars bound about their necks.
