The Crystal Of Ynthar is also known as the Tripartite Crystal, the Life Crystal and perhaps other names. This artifact of Yntharian lore is the embodiment of the central Yntharian belief. This belief states that all life has three parts: body, mind and spirit. Only by possessing these three components can an entity be considered alive. Likewise, the Crystal of Ynthar is actually three separate crystals that fit together to form a whole.

The first of the three crystals is known as the Orb of Blood. It is a large sphere of Termalite. Its magic deals with the body. Yntharian myths describe this crystal performing incredible feats of healing, vaporizing enemies and more.

The second of the three crystals is an equilateral pyramid, seven inches on a side, composed of pure Trithinium. This crystal's powers deal with the mind. It is said that the Thought Shard, as it is called, could erase and restore memories, absorb knowledge, store thoughts and teach that which is known.

The third of these crystals is the Essence Crystal. This small crystal is identical to the Thought Shard, only smaller and composed of pure Vertrillium. Its functions deal with the soul or spirit. It is supposedly able to snuff out the life from a creature, bring back  the dead, sense life, destroy souls and even more wondrous feats.

The Crystal of Ynthar was created by the High Priest Of Ynthar in the Thullian Imperial Capital of Bekai. During the Great War, the Crystal of Ynthar was divided up into its component parts and each crystal was taken to one of the three lesser temples of Ynthar. When the war engulfed the three lesser temples, the crystals were lost. Their current whereabouts are unknown. Most of the culture and power of the Thullian Empire was lost because of the Great War. The Yntharian religion was scattered, but not completely wiped out. Considering the tenacity of this cult's members, the priests of Ynthar, few though they may be, are probably looking for the pieces of this artifact  still.
